NanoSUN and IIT Hydrogen Bolzano sign a memorandum of understanding to initiate a collaboration aiming to jointly explore the operational use of Pioneer across a range of hydrogen applications in Italy, which will lead to the quick deployment of safe, reliable, and cost-effective hydrogen refuelling infrastructure.
IIT Hydrogen Bolzano, being the first in Italy to provide a public hydrogen refuelling station, bring invaluable first-hand experience of delivering infrastructure projects and navigating regulatory compliance. This, coupled with NanoSUN’s extensive experience in Pioneer deployments across the UK and Germany, positions us to develop a strategic roadmap for the adoption of hydrogen within mobility.
Italy is betting heavily on Hydrogen with a 3.64 Billion EUR national investment towards the Green Hydrogen transition, 230 million of which will be dedicated to establishing a national network of Hydrogen refuelling stations, 36 of which will be operative in 2026.
Pioneer provides a low CapEx opportunity for captive fleets to adopt hydrogen as an alternative fuel before the 2026 deadline, and beyond that will enable additional use cases, particularly suited to heavy-duty captive fleets of vehicles and off-highway applications such as construction.
